Reading Age: 6 - 8 years. Matilda is extraordinary in everything she does but never more than when she eats the special food her grandfather brings her from his travels. The beans from Tibet allow her to fly through the air, the spinach from Spain gives immense strength and even invisibility is possible for Matilda. Matilda’s mother is an author and she records all Matty’s adventures in this exciting new series. The Amazing Matilda Mudpuddle - When Matilda eats the beans her grandfather has brought back from a trekking tour in Tibet, she floats to the tops of trees, flies as fast as
the birds, performs a high wire circus act, zooms to the highest point of the harbour
bridge and takes the part of Mary Poppins in the school play. Her big test comes when
her friend, Stephen Ko is captured by car thieves. Saving him is the most serious test The Mighty Matilda Mudpuddle - Matilda gains incredible strength after eating some canned spinach her grandfather has brought back from Spain. Her new powers only last a month, but she puts them to good use: she helps win the tug-o-war for her school, defeats the Strong Man at the country show, deals with the school bully ... and much more. In the end she discovers that being strong outside is a wonderful asset, but being inside is what really counts The Invisible Matilda Mudpuddle - Matilda's grandfather brings back some special blue jelly babies from the Bahamas. They make Matilda invisible! It only lasts for 3 hours, but that gives her plenty of time to have some serious fun - tickling teachers, teaching some beach bullies a lesson and even helping to nab some nasty bank robbers! Matilda Mudpuddle Back in Time - Each time Matilda eats an olive that her grandfather brought back from Greece, she goes back in time: to watch Cathy Freeman win at the 2000 Olympic Games, to make friends with girls in Ancient Greece, to visit the first Queen Elizabeth, to sail on the Endeavour with Captain Cook, to visit the sick with Florence Nightingale and to fly across the Pacific Ocean with Sir Charles Kindsford Smith. Matilda Mudpuddle and the X-ray Eyes - Not everyone can see through a brick wall, but Matilda Mudpuddle suddenly finds that she can see through anything. This special power will only last for a month, but during that time she discovers a new source of water for the city, she identifies a gang of thieves and she and her friend Stephen even find a little lost girl. Most importantly she uses her X-ray eyes to help other people. The Matilda Mudpuddle books are on Premier's Reading Challenge book lists.
