About the author Kevin Handreck is Managing Director of Netherwood Horticultural Consultants, based in Adelaide, South Australia. Netherwood provides a consultancy service to the nursery, turf, hydroponics and urban Kevin worked for the Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia
for 36 years. During that time he was involved in
both research and extension, initially in the nutrition He chaired Standards Australia committees that set the Australian standards for
Potting Mixes,
Composts, Mulches and Soil Conditioners and Soils for Landscaping and Garden Use.
Kevin has written three books - Growing Media for Ornamental Plants and Turf, Gardening Down-under and Good Gardens with Less Water, about 50 scientific
papers and over150 scientific articles for industry publications.
