About the author

Derek Landy was born in born 1973 in Ireland and lives near Dublin. He attended Drogheda Grammar School during his childhood years and has a black belt in kenpo karate. Before writing his bestselling children′s series about a sharply-dressed skeleton detective, he wrote the screenplays for a zombie movie and a murderous horror film in which everybody dies. ′I think my career-guidance teacher is spinning in her grave,′ he says, ′or she would be if she were dead.′ Skulduggery Pleasant won the illustrious Red House Children's Book Award in 2008, with children voting for the winning novel.
