Amidst the chaos, two British children are being hunted by German agents. British spy Charles Henderson tries to reach them first, but he can only do it with the help of a twelve-year-old French orphan. The British secret service is about to discover that kids working undercover will help to win the war. For official purposes, these children do not exist. Comment from Robert Muchamore - Back in 2001 when I wrote CHERUB: The Recruit I had no idea that it would be so successful, or that I'd end up writing a dozen books about James Adams and his friends. Fans were always asking me how CHERUB began and what the initials stood for. Then I thought, what if I made a new series about the beginning of CHERUB? The world of Henderson's Boys is rougher and more dangerous than in CHERUB. Instead of drug dealers and terrorists the enemy is a brutal Nazi regime that will torture and kill young agents if they're captured. I hope you enjoy meeting Charles Henderson and the first CHERUB agents! About the author Robert Kilgore Muchamore (born in Islington, UK on 26 December 1972) is an English writer and author of the CHERUB and Henderson's Boys series. He spent thirteen years working as a private investigator. He was inspired to create the CHERUB book series because his nephew couldn't find any books that he liked reading. He tried to write books that he would have enjoyed reading when he was 12 or 13, a time when he remembers being too old for children's books but not old enough to read adult novels. The CHERUB series follows the life of a character named James Adams (formerly James Choke), a member of CHERUB, a top-secret branch of the British Secret Service. The organisation recruits orphan children and trains them as intelligence officers. Once qualified, they are used to investigate targets ranging from international terrorists to gang leaders. As children, they are considered innocent by their targets. So far Muchamore has written and published eleven CHERUB novels, with another one in production. Book 12, Shadow Wave, is the last book in the series and will be published in late 2010. The CHERUB series has been sold in more than 20 different countries and has won various awards. Book 1 in the series, The Recruit has won 8 literature awards. Muchamore has also written the Henderson's Boys series - three novels about the beginning of CHERUB. The Henderson's Boys books are set during World War II and follow Charles Henderson, a British secret agent, as he creates the organisation later featured in the CHERUB series. The books feature four children: Marc Kilgour, Paul and Rosie Clarke and PT Bivott. There are 3 books in the series so far, The Escape, Eagle Day and Secret Army. A fourth book, Grey Wolves is due for publication in early 2011.
