The AUSTRALIAN BLUE RIBBON COOKBOOKStories, recipes and secret tips from prize-winning country show cooksby LIZ HARFULLSee other Country cookbooks including CWA titles click here New hardcover book, 240 pages, published 2014. Beautiful colour and b&W photos and retro illustrations throughout. Delicious recipes, heart warming stories and expert cooking tips from 70 of the best show cooks from all around Australia. Every year hundreds of talented amateurs devote hours to preparing entries for cookery competitions run as part of 600 or so agricultural shows across Australia. In their quest for a precious blue ribbon, they use recipes based on generations of experience and strict judging codes that demand absolute perfection. But more than that, in The Australian Blue Ribbon Cookbook Liz shares their heart-warming stories, and the wisdom, knowledge and generosity of spirit that brings success, even for novices. Whether it's a traditional Mixed Mustard Pickle or Madeira Cake, mouth-watering Sausage Rolls or Pumpkin Damper, Jenny's Jam Drops or Cousin Barb's Jelly Slice, there is something delicious for everyone to try. The first recipe I'm going to try is the very interesting-sounding Norm's Water Sponge, followed by Upside-down Lemon Delicious. The Australian Blue Ribbon Cookbook is an Australian publication. All measurements are in metric, and metric cup & spoon. Please note - the recipes in this book are all different from the recipes in Liz's first book, The Blue Ribbon Cookbook, which featured prize-winning recipes from around the South Australian country (and city!) shows. About the author Liz Harfull grew up in the small farming community of Mil Lel, near Mount Gambier, where her family settled in the 1860s. She trained as a journalirt at the local newspaper, later working at the Adelaide Advertiser and the Stock Journal. She has also worked as a public relations consultant. Liz lives in the Adelaide Hills where she is busy as an author, freelance journalist, photographer and consultant. A keen amateur cook who thinks whipping up afternoon tea for friends is a great way to relax at the weekend, Liz has maintained her love of country shows since she was a child and lived just a few small paddocks away from the local showground.
