Angelina Ballerina

Angelina is a pretty little mouse who wants more than anything else to become a ballerina. She dances all the time – even when she's supposed to be doing chores or getting ready for school. Her parents are in despair. Then one day they think of a plan that changes Angelina's life and makes her the happiest mouse in the world.

Angelina loves to do gymnastics with her new friend, Alice. But when Angelina can't do a handstand, all the older children laugh at her, and Alice joins in. By the end of the story, Angelina and Alice learn the importance of teamwork and become the best of friends all over again.

Angelina and the Princess

Miss Lilly's Ballet School has been invited to perform for the Princess of Mouseland, and Angelina hopes to be a prima ballerina. But disaster strikes and she is only given a minor role. Angelina is so disappointed that she wants to leave ballet school but she decides to work hard for the sake of all her friends in the performance. Then an unexpected turn of events leads to a happy ending for all!

Angelina is so excited! She and Henry have parts in a grown-ups' ballet. During rehearsals, Angelina's excitement turns to jealousy when Henry becomes the favourite of the famous star Madame Zizi. But after near disaster on opening night, Angelina and Henry become better friends than ever.

Angelina sets off with Grandma and Grandpa on a canal boat to the Mouseland Dance Festival. She is so excited that she practises her new dance all the way but she tumbles into a can of oil and ruins her costume! Luckily Grandma and Grandpa come to the rescue, and show her how to be a proper sailor too. When they get to the festival, the crowds love Angelina's dance and cheer for more - she is truly the star of the show.

Angelina Ice Skates

Angelina is planning a New Year's Eve ice dance for everyone in Mouseland. All of her friends are taking part, even little cousin Henry. But two big boys from school keep interrupting their rehearsals. When a giant snowball fight breaks out, Angelina is sure the dance will be ruined. Will she find a way to make the show a success?

A bit more about Angelina Ballerina

Angelina Ballerina, created by author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig, is a fictional mouse who features in a popular series of children's books. The first book in the series was published in 1982, and there have since been over twenty books in the series.

In 2002, an animated TV series of 39 fifteen minute episodes based on the books was produced by HIT Entertainment in the United Kingdom. The series featured actress Finty Williams as the voice of Angelina, and her mother Judi Dench as Miss Lily. The series aired on PBS in the United States and can currently be seen on Nick Jr. and PBS Kids Sprout. English National Ballet took a live version of Angelina Ballerina called Angelina's Star Performance on tour in autumn 2007. It was a fairly short ballet aimed at children.
