Princess Smartypants does not want to get married. She enjoys being a Ms. But being a rich and pretty princess means that all the princes want her to be their Mrs. Find out how Princess Smartypants fights to preserve her independence in this hilarious fairy-tale-with-a-difference.
Poor Prince Cinders – all he ever gets to do is to clean and scrub and tidy up after his three big hairy brothers (who are terrible bullies as well). Until one Saturday night, when a small dirty fairy falls down the chimney and promises Prince Cinders that all his wishes will come true...
King and Queen Spend-fortune are making a very bad job of running the kingdom, and Prince Change-a-lot iss tired of being treated like a baby. He'd change things if he could talk like a grown up... With a quick rub on his potty, he defeats the dreadful dragons, blasts the beastly blubberworms and becomes a cool ruler.
Babette has won the Kate Greenaway Medal and the BLA Annabell Fargeon Award for both Princess Smartypants (1986) and Prince Cinders (1987). Princess Smartypants also won the British Library Association (BLA) award in 1986.
