New small softcover book, 72 pages. First published 1993, this revised edition published 2008.
A concise guide to the care and pruning of common fruits and vines.
Pruning for Fruit is about results - about growing and enjoying luscious fruit. We all enjoy eating fruit when it's fresh, juicy and full of flavour. It's even better to pick and eat perfect fruit plucked fresh from trees and vines we have grown ourselves at home.
Somehow, fruit from the greengrocer or supermarket just doesn't taste as good. It lacks juiciness, aroma and flavour. That's because fruit is usually harvested semi-ripe so it can be transported and stored before sale. It never develops its full flavour. Also, commercially-grown fruit varieties are often not the most flavouresome. The answer is to grow your own!
Pruning is a key part of getting the best from your trees and vines. It allows you to control their size and shape, to maintain good fruit size and quality, and to keep your trees and vines bearing throughout their productive life.
So what are you waiting for? Start pruning now and you'll soon enjoy the fruits of your labours. Bon appetit!
