Used softcover book in very good condition, 144 pages published 2005

Lawns into Lunch is about 22 people who discovered how to grow food in the city. Although they come from all walks of life, they were all looking for the same thing: a way to produce nutritious organic food from every centimetre of soil they could lay their hands on. reading about how these people created their gardens is like sitting down and chatting with a friend.

Some of thses gardeners live in units, some in terraces with tiny narrow backyards and their accommodation is often rented. Refusing to be thwarted by seemingly unpromising sites, circumstances and limited resources, their yearning for a garden that would yield them fresh produce led them to enrol in permaculture courses and this opened the door on a host of possibilities.

In this book, these urban gardeners share their mistakes, their lucky breaks, their discoveries, their clever inventions and time-saving devices, their recipes and simple, inexpensive construction techniques. The book bubbles with clever ideas and is a testament to how gardens touch lives and connect people with one another.
