See other Australian books click here
New spiral bound softcover book. Measures 30 x22 cm, 368 pages, published 2007.
Includes Hema Road Atlas
Over 3000 listings across Australia for rest areas, free camp sites, National Parks, State Forests and Parks and low cost caravan parks. Includes maps, GPS references, pet-friendly sites and dump point locations.
Organised state-by-state, each colour-coded state section has a key map followed by several pages of maps which give more detail, and then the camps listings. These are organised in linear order along highways and roads, running north-south and east-west. Site numbers are overlaid on the relevant Hema road map.
Each site listing gives information via easy-to-read symbols about facilities (toilets, showers, bbqs, disabled access, etc), fees, mobile phone service, whether or not pets are allowed, dump points, suitability for long vehicles over 10 metres, GPS coordinates, Hema map reference, site classification (day use, overnight camping, caravan park), and a written description of where the site is located - eg, Camp area 38km S of Theodore. Turn 37km S of Theodore or 57km N of Taroom. 1km dirt road.
Includes excellent general camping information and website access guide.
The guide represents great value for money, especially when the cost of the book can be recouped after only a few nights camping out.
Being able to plan a trip with stopovers that are free or low cost, knowing if a pet is welcome and seeing at a glance what facilities are available, has proven to be a hit with travellers across Australia. It is easy to see why it is now clearly regarded as ‘the traveller’s bible’
All in all, an easy to use and comprehensive guide to rest areas and camp spots throughout Australia, a definite ‘must have’ for all travellers.
