Brokeback Mountain - Annie Proulx - Close Range - Wyoming stories new softcover book
CLOSE RANGE
Brokeback Mountain and other stories
by E. ANNIE PROULX
New softcover book, 320 pages. Movie tie-in
edition published by Harper Perennial in 2006
Brutal and striking, Pultizer Prize
winner Annie Proulx brings us an outstanding collection of tales about the
ranchers and country folk who struggle to survive in the harsh wildness of
Wyoming.
Raw and gritty Proulx presents to us a variety of tales of the people that
struggle to live their lives in the remote and often cruel environment of
Wyoming, their stories and characters frequently as turbulent, unpredictable and
untamed as the landscape itself.
Brokeback Mountain
(now a major
motion picture directed by Ang Lee and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath
Ledger) tells the tale of Jack Twist and Ennis del Mar, two young men with no
prospects, who live hard, lonely lives and have been shaped by their environment
to be rough-mannered and tough natured. Signing up to Farm and Ranch employment
they first meet and are glad to have one another's company where none had been
expected. But soon their friendship becomes something else, something unexpected
and not looked for, something far reaching and deadly...
